ASHRAE Region XIV CRC Connecting the Dots to Future Generations GES 23- ACHIEVING NET ZERO

After four long years, the Galway Energy Summit (GES) is back and more exciting than ever!

This year, GES has partnered with ASHRAE Ireland to bring you “GES23: Achieving Net Zero”, an event that aims to bring together individuals and organisations across all industries with the common goal of achieving net zero carbon together. The event will take place on August 11th, 2023, at the Bailey Allen Hall, University of Galway, as part of the ASHRAE Region XIV CRC.

The Galway Energy Summit and ASHRAE Ireland are teaming up to co-host this event, which will focus on decarbonisation efforts in the built environment. Buildings consume 40% of the world’s energy, making ASHRAE a key player in the development of sustainable building design and decarbonization standards. As a result, partnering with ASHRAE Ireland will provide a valuable link for the Galway Energy Summit to bring together experts and practitioners from the industry to share their knowledge and experiences on how to achieve net-zero energy.

The event will kick off with a panel discussion titled “The Road to Net Zero: An Outlook,” which will explore Ireland’s and Europe’s net zero carbon objectives and status. During this discussion, attendees will be presented with the latest facts and status on Europe’s carbon emission goals and progression to date. We are excited to announce that we have secured some impressive speakers for this panel discussion, who will be announced in the coming weeks. To achieve net zero, we require key buy-in from industry. Our second panel discussion, “Net Zero in Industry,” will bring together some of the most established multinational companies to discuss their decarbonization strategies and how they are implemented on national and global levels. Our final panel discussion, “Switching to a Circular Economy,” will explore the key drivers needed to effectively switch to a circular economy. This circular economy approach can tackle global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution.

Throughout the event, there will be a stand exhibition where delegates will have the opportunity to network and connect with leading companies that are at the forefront of sustainable measures to achieve net zero.

At GES23, we are committed to making this event net zero carbon! To achieve this, we have taken several measures to reduce the carbon footprint of our event. We have chosen a venue with easy access to public transportation, bicycle parking, and carpooling options to minimize the impact of transportation. We will also use locally sourced, plant-based catering options to reduce the carbon emissions associated with food production and transportation.

We can’t wait to see you at GES23: Achieving Net Zero in Galway.
