Efficient Building Design Conference

Papers are being sought for the 7th ASHRAE International Conference on Efficient Building Design—Materials and HVAC Equipment Technologies. The objective of the conference is to support meaningful innovation for the development of sustainable built environments at individual building and city levels. This is achieved by identifying and advancing smart/AI-based solutions and technologies aimed at significantly improving the effectiveness of heating, ventilation and cooling costs and enhancing resilience of building and cities in future warmer climates. The ultimate goal is to contribute to efforts accelerating the realization of carbon reduction targets.

Papers are encouraged to explore integrated strategies, policies and technologies enhancing urban resilience, resource efficiency and climate responsiveness across various sectors.

The conference, organized by ASHRAE, the ASHRAE Lebanese Chapter, the Munib and Angela Masri Institute of Energy and Natural Resources and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Beirut, will be held on October 8-9, 2026 at The American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon.

The conference topics include but are not limited to the following:
  • Design interventions for climate resilience of building and communities
  • Sustainable healthy building design including ventilation and indoor air quality
  • Innovations in building materials for passive and active envelops
  • Energy Efficient heating and cooling towards sustainable solutions
  • Urban heat island and solutions for enhanced outdoor thermal comfort
  • Building performance: models, metrics and standards
