ASHRAE Ireland had the pleasure of giving Dennis Knight, the ASHRAE Global President, a true taste of Irish hospitality during his visit to Ireland!

We kicked off Dennis’ Visit with a tour of Trinity College Dublin which was a great opportunity to share some of Ireland’s rich history, culture, and the vibrant student life at the heart of the city.

ASHRAE Ireland then hosted Dennis at University College Dublin where we had the opportunity to reflect on the great work ASHRAE Ireland has been able to do.

We discussed Student Affairs, led by Donal Finn, highlighting the way ASHRAE is supporting students and young engineers around the country. We also shared the progress of YEA (Young Engineers in ASHRAE), where Alex spoke about the growing impact of YEA initiatives on young professionals in the industry.

YEA Ireland’s mission statement is “To inspire and elevate the next generation of Irish engineers within ASHRAE through opportunity, mentorship, and technical excellence.” ASHRAE Ireland aligns with this initiative by organising a range of formal and informal networking events, providing student scholarships and arranging a mentorship program available to young engineers.

Conor Murray then provided an update on our Mentorship Program, highlighting the impact ASHRAE Ireland has on young engineers and emphasised how it fosters valuable connections between students and experienced mentors . Finally, Edith shared the latest updates from the Board of Governors (BOG), outlining our vision for the future of ASHRAE Ireland.

Throughout his visit, Dennis had the chance to meet YEA members from University College Dublin, Technological University Dublin, and University College Cork. He was truly enthusiastic about engaging with the next generation of engineers !

We hope Dennis enjoyed his time and Ireland and we wish him a great onward journey through Europe !

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day and visit a success and to our sponsor Ardmac, whose generosity makes events like this possible.
