The Government Affairs Committee (GAC) of ASHRAE’s Chile Chapter has contributed to the development of the new Chilean ventilation standard NCh 3308, which includes many portions of ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2022, Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. The Chilean standard was published on May 31, 2024. This milestone represents significant progress in improving indoor air quality (IAQ) and energy efficiency in buildings nationwide. New Ventilation Standard Adapts ASHRAE Standard 62.1 for Country of Chile
The opinion of the Rhode Island ASHRAE Chapter is that there is not currently available or reasonably anticipated ventilation or air cleaning systems that can adequately control or significantly reduce the health risks of environmental tobacco smoke to an acceptable level. Any level of exposure can lead to adverse health effects such as cardiovascular disease and lung cancer. Rhode Island has banned indoor smoking in public buildings in all cases but one: casinos. ASHRAE and UNEP's OzonAction have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to renew and expand their long-standing collaboration on environmental protection and sustainable development in the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors. Ginger Scoggins, ASHRAE President, signed the agreement at UNEP's Paris Duty Station during meetings with Jim Curlin, Head of the OzonAction Branch. Patricia Kameri-Mbote, Director of UNEP's Law Division, signed on behalf of UNEP. Read more
