METROPOLIS’s Planet Positive Awards recognizes the most creative projects and products from around the world that benefit people and planet, as well as firms and professionals leading the way to a better built environment. Judged by four expert juries across project types and product categories, the winners and honorable mentions below represent the highest achievements today in design that addresses climate change, ecosystem health, human health and equity. District Energy Systems – Designing for Longevity
Since 1995, countries from around the world belonging to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have convened annually to discuss and measure progress on combatting climate change at The Conference of the Parties (COP). ASHRAE has taken part in COP since 2021 sharing information on the solutions, standards, and opportunities ASHRAE provides to address decarbonization of the global built environment. This year COP28 will take place in the Dubai, UAB, from November 30-December, 2023. Read more
In October, HVAC&R industry stakeholders gathered for the 2023 Decarbonization Conference for the Built Environment in Washington, D.C., where thought leaders, consulting engineers, architects and others gathered to discuss the prospective, exciting opportunities in reducing the carbon footprint of buildings. ASHRAE India Chapter organized the 3rd edition of N.C. Gupta Memorial Intercollege Football Tournament on September 16, 2023. The event was well appreciated by the industry, committee members, students, faculty members and YEA members. The event was Inaugurated with the balloon-cutting session by committee members Rajesh Jain, Abid Husain, Dr. Varun Jain, Abhishek Jain, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Deepak Gupta, Mayank, along with the secretariat staff Indrani and Ranjit. “I’ve been thinking, maybe all this rush to put everything on a VFD or ECM is a little overboard,” mused Old Sam. ”I’m not sure where you are headed with this,” replied Fred. ASHRAE has released a new guide focusing on the critical role of grid interactivity in the decarbonization process. The Grid-Interactive Buildings for Decarbonization: Design and Operation Resource Guide is the second in a series of guides developed by the ASHRAE Task Force For Building Decarbonization (TFBD) and provides information on maximizing carbon reduction through buildings’ interaction with the electric power grid.
