ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers) is a global professional body representing the interests of over 57,000 members. Michael was one of the inaugural members of the Irish Chapter which started life in 2015 with 10 signatories and now includes over 100 members and operates student branches in DIT, CIT and UCD. The aim of the Chapter is to promote and disseminate the ASHRAE knowledgebase into the current practice of professionals and industries within fields relevant to the themes of ASHRAE. This is achieved through seminars, technical workshops and through collaboration with other professional bodies, universities and institutes of technology.

Michael’s focus over the coming year is to bring international experts from ASHRAE’s panel of travelling Distinguished Lecturers to Ireland to interact with the considerable pool of local expertise we have within the industry to promote engineering solutions to climate change in the built environment.
